To protect the inside of our RV we always lock up the entire trailer before leaving. Blaylock hitch coupler lock with Master Lock discus padlock

However, there aren’t always other RVers around – especially in our most secluded boondocking sites! To protect our whole RV from being stolen we padlock the trailer’s coupler latch in the closed position as well as locking the entire coupler using a Blaylock Hitch Coupler Lock and Master Lock Discus Pad Lock. We RVers look out for each other! Safety in numbers at a previous remote boondocking location. This way, if anyone else comes poking around our rig in an unfamiliar vehicle our neighbors will know something fishy is happening. If Jenni or I get a weird vibe on a place we will simply move to a safer location.Īside from that, the next most important safety measure is to make friends with your RV neighbors! Whenever there is someone near our site Jenni and I will go introduce ourselves so they know who we are, what we look like, and what our truck looks like. First and foremost we never leave the trailer behind in an area that we are unsure about. With that said though, we have taken some security measures to give us piece of mind when leaving our RV behind. Instead, we take practical steps to minimize risk and provide peace of mind – after that we just enjoy life! Wild donkeys up close and personal at our boondocking site! We choose to not let fear cripple our way of living and traveling. What is the alternative though? Not experiencing incredible secluded boondocking sites or remaining in the RV 24/7 so no one can steal anything? Neither of these are reasonable solutions in our opinion. However, this isn’t always possible – like when we go adventuring! For instance, if we need groceries or other errands ran, one person will drive into town while the other hangs at home. Jenni and I prefer to keep one of us with the RV at all times. So how do we head off to adventure without crippling anxiety surrounding RV security?! Leaving your RV unattended out in the middle of nowhere sounds scary right? What if it gets broken into, vandalized, or the whole RV stolen?! These are the risks we take every time we leave our campsite to explore points of interest.
